We are pleased to announce the appointment of Darren Beatty (Ngai Te Rore, Te Roroa, Ngati Kahungunu Ki Mokai Patea, Ngati Porou, Te Whanau Apanui, Nga Puhi) to the role of CEO for Te Roroa Whatu Ora and Manawhenua Trusts.


As a Fellow Chartered Accountant, Darren comes with a wealth of experience and expertise in managing and leading iwi and Māori entities through development and commercial growth opportunities, as well as the development of cultural,  environmental and social advancement.


Darren has previously held roles as the Group Head, Chief Financial Officer of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, Head of Finance and Administration at Whakaata Māori, and most recently as an Investment Manager for Invest NZ. 


Thomas Hohaia, Chairperson of the Te Roroa Group says Darren’s appointment is

celebrated as it heralds a new era in the development of the Group.  “As we look ahead to where we want Te Roroa to be in the next decade, we welcome Darren’s commercial expertise as well as grounding in Te Roroatanga to drive our intergenerational aspirations.”


Darren will begin his role as CEO on April 1 st , 2026.
